The Round Lake Area Exchange Club and sponsor Consumers Credit Union, Round Lake Beach, are proud to announce the October Hometown Hero, U.S. Staff Sergeant Veronica Brown of Round Lake Beach. Her colleague, Jacob Schmitt, of Round Lake Beach, registered her for this honor. Brown is a graduate of Peoria Manuel High School. Brown currently serves as an Army recruiter in Round Lake Beach. Her accomplishments to date include three Army Commendation medals, an Army Achievement medal, an Afghanistan Campaign medal, and a Combat Medal Badge. During her tenure, Brown has been stationed at Ft. Hood, TX, Ft. Sill, OK, and Ft. Bliss, TX. She also completed a tour in Saudi Arabia and Afghanistan.

With the generous support of this month’s sponsor Consumers Credit Union, Brown’s “Hanging with the Heroes” care package will include a gift card to Olive Garden, a personalized “Hanging with the Heroes” t-shirt (donated by Artrageous of Hainesville), and letters from Round Lake Area Schools students. The Round Lake Area Exchange Club presented Veronica with a plaque on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. The Round Lake Area Exchange Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at the RLAS-116 Administrative Service Center, located at 884 W Nippersink Rd, Round Lake, Illinois.
