Members of the Round Lake Area Exchange Club are teaming up for the fifth consecutive year to help provide support to Nicasa’s Family Advocacy Program. Their work to collect donations of diapers, baby wipes and gas cards is all part of their 2016 Day of Service Campaign.

Nicasa was awarded a Family Advocacy contract from the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) in May 2010. This program provides services to families in great need. Some have experienced severe loss including, unemployment, divorce, illness, homelessness, or domestic violence; situations that have left them temporarily unable to meet the needs of their families.

The Family Advocacy Center helps clients and their families navigate the complexities of the human service arena; connects them with needed services and; in many cases, directly provides services such as parenting, youth and adult counseling, emergency assistance, financial planning, and so much more.

There have been so many families helped through the donations of the Round Lake Area Exchange Club and the stories from those families impacted by their support are always very compelling. More than 2,100 families have been serviced since the program’s inception. Parents seeking services often come in very distraught. They leave, however, with a plan and the knowledge that they have a place to turn for help. Often just being able to offer the family a gas card and some diapers and baby wipes gives them hope that things will get better!

Donations will be collected during the October 24, 2016 Round Lake Area Exchange Club meeting. If community members are interested in participating in this Day of Service project and are unable to attend the meeting on October 24, 2016, arrangements can be made to pick up/drop off items by contacting Sherry Ridge at 847-740-2379.

The Round Lake Area Exchange Club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month (7:30am) at the RLAS-116 Administrative Service Center, located at 884 W Nippersink Rd, Round Lake, Illinois.
